This one I call marquee style. I had someone send me a quilted postcard last year with a similar random rectangles appliqué. I found it fascinating in its simplicity.
Took fabrics that worked with the wavy blue backing. The purple grey looked like little building outlines to me. Added the cream fabric and stamped the keys image. Used the outline stitching as the quilting. I really like how this came out. I am sure more along this line will be comin.
